About Ningura Napurrula (1938-2013)

Ningura Napurrula is one of the most important Australian Indigenous artists (both living and deceased) featured in the world's most significant public museums, including -  Musée du quai Branly, Paris, The Palace of Japan Tokyo, HOOD Museum of Art Hanover, National Museum of Women Arts Washington, Artbank, Art Gallery of Western Australia, Art Gallery of South Australia, National Gallery of Australia, National Museum of Australia, Queensland Art Gallery, National Gallery of Victoria, Architecture Australia Magazine, ABC Broadcasting Corporation, Richard Kelton Foundation Santa Monica, The Harold Mitchell Foundation, Museum and Art Gallery Northern Territory, Kerry Stokes, Homes a Court, Australian Institute Aboriginal Collection.

 

Ningura's status as one of Australia's premier artists was cemented when she was chosen as the sole female desert artist to paint the ceiling of the acclaimed Musee du quai Branly in Paris. As well as the Musee du quai Branly, Ningura is represented in major public galleries both nationally and internationally.

 

Ningura Napurrula's  work is keenly sought after by international buyers. Ningura's painting Women at Wirrulnga 2005 sold for $84,000 and Woman at Wirrulnga 2006 sold for $113,018.
